It is so important that children get fed healthy food every day. Otherwise, how are their brains and bodies going to be in an optimum condition for learning? We want our children to be the best that they can be, but we need to give them the right fuel.

One of the most shocking things shown here is that when Jamie showed various vegetables to young children, most of them don’t know a potato or cabbage when they see one. This is truly shocking. How can people like that then grow up to make informed choices about what they put in their mouths?

Obesity is now more of a health problem than smoking.Yet we don’t give children cigarettes in school, so why should we feed them junk food in school?

If school is the place where children are prepared for adult life, why is good food not a central part of that? Surely, feeding children junk food every day and then expecting them to concentrate and sit still and behave themselves and not fall asleep, surely that’s like urinating into your car’s fuel tank and then expecting to drive to the other end of the country!

The fact is things aren’t working, so things need to change. It’s no good blaming people for being overweight, blaming their lack of willpower, when they have unwittingly become addicted to the drug that is junk food, when they’ve never prepared a healthy meal in their life, because they’ve never been shown how.

So, not only do children need to be fed healthy food at school, they also need to be taught how prepare healthy meals for themselves, so that they can feed themselves as adults without having to resort to fast food or junk food.
